In just two weeks, 13,243 regretful terrorists surrendered.

In the last two weeks, a total of 13,243 repentant terrorists and their families surrendered to forces of the Nigerian Armed Forces in various places in the North East, according to the Defence Headquarters.Brig.

Gen Benard Onyeuko, Director, Defence Media Operations, said of the total number, around 3,243 are adult males and 3,868 are females, speaking in Abuja on Wednesday at a briefing on military operations between October 1 and October 14. Children account for around 6,234 of the overall population.

He went on to say that during that time, 29 terrorists were murdered and 13 terrorists and their accomplices were captured.

“As a result, additional terrorists have proceeded to lay down their arms and surrender to our troops with their families as they were unable to withstand the offensive operations within the theatre,” Onyeuko stated.

Gwoza – Yamtake – Bita road, Gwoza – Farm Centre – Yamtake route, Mandara Mountain area, Pulka and Hambagda towns, all in Borno State, were among the places where these accomplishments were recorded.

“Overall, 29 terrorists were neutralized throughout the period, while 13 terrorists, including their informants/collaborators and logistics providers, were apprehended during the operations.”

“In addition, a total of 38 assorted weapons and 968 rounds of assorted ammunition were seized, as well as 48 rustled animals and a variety of other stuff.”

At various places in the North-East, a total of 13,243 terrorists and their families had surrendered to oun soldiers, including 3,243 adult males, 3,868 adult females, and 6,234 children.”

During the same period, he noted, troops killed at least 40 bandits and detained bandits’ collaborators on the country’s wanted list of security operatives.
